Gavaskar Slams Foreign Critics

India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad announcement has sparked debates across cricketing circles, but batting legend Sunil Gavaskar isn’t too impressed with the noise coming from outside.

Speaking to a local channel, Gavaskar hit out at foreign critics who have been questioning India’s team balance and selections. “They don’t have any stake in Indian cricket. Why should we give importance to their opinions?” he remarked, making his stance loud and clear.

The former India captain stressed that squad discussions should remain within the Indian cricketing ecosystem and not be swayed by outside chatter. “At the end of the day, it’s the selectors, the team management and the players who carry the responsibility. Foreigners commenting is irrelevant,” he added.

The statement comes just days after India unveiled its 17-member squad for the continental event, with Suryakumar Yadav set to lead the side. While fans and experts at home are already debating combinations, Gavaskar’s words serve as a reminder that India’s cricketing roadmap shouldn’t be dictated by outsiders.

With the countdown to the Asia Cup 2025 underway, India’s squad will remain under the spotlight — and so will every opinion around it. But as Gavaskar underlined, not every voice deserves equal weight.
