Pakistan pacer Salman Mirza has expressed his delight after being named in the national squad for the upcoming UAE T20 Tri-Series and the Asia Cup 2025.
Mirza, who made his international debut during the July T20I series against Bangladesh, took to Instagram to share his excitement. Posting the official squad banner, he captioned it simply: “Shukar Alhamdulillah.” His post quickly drew warm responses from the cricket fraternity, with fans and fellow players congratulating him on the achievement.
The left-arm quick impressed on debut against Bangladesh, finishing as the leading wicket-taker of the series with seven scalps across three matches at a miserly economy rate of 5.21. His performances convinced selectors and head coach Mike Hesson to keep faith in him for the upcoming assignments.
“We have retained Salman Mirza because of his performance in Bangladesh,” Hesson explained at the squad announcement press conference.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 17-member squad led by all-rounder Salman Ali Agha. Senior stars Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and Haris Rauf return alongside rising talents like Saim Ayub, Khushdil Shah, and Hussain Talat.
The UAE Tri-Series is scheduled in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7, followed by the Asia Cup in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from September 9 to 28.
With his breakout performances and now a chance to shine on a bigger stage, Mirza will be among the players to watch as Pakistan prepares for two high-profile tournaments.
