Fakhar Zaman Expected in Asia Cup 2025

Pakistan cricket fans can breathe a sigh of relief — star opener Fakhar Zaman is likely to be fit and ready for the Asia Cup 2025, set to kick off in the UAE on September 9.

Fakhar picked up a hamstring injury during the second T20I against the West Indies in Lauderhill, USA, forcing him to miss the remainder of the series and the upcoming three-match ODI series. However, according to sources close to the player, the injury is not serious and recovery is expected within 10 to 15 days.

“He is currently in Dubai on his way back from the United States and should be home tonight. I spoke to him personally, and he said it’s just a minor injury,” the source revealed.

Once back in Pakistan, Fakhar will begin his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, with the aim of being fully fit before Pakistan’s Asia Cup campaign begins.

The left-hander’s return will be crucial for Pakistan, especially on the slow, spin-friendly pitches expected in the UAE. In the recent T20I series against the West Indies, Fakhar looked in good touch before his injury, scoring 28 and 20 in the first two matches.

Pakistan start their Asia Cup journey on September 12 against Oman in Dubai, followed by a blockbuster clash with India on September 14, and a final group match against the UAE on September 17. The tournament will be played in T20 format, serving as an important build-up to next year’s T20 World Cup.

Before the Asia Cup, Pakistan will also feature in a tri-nation T20I series in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7, alongside Afghanistan and the UAE.
