India Refuses to Attend Dhaka Meeting Unless Venue Is Changed
The uncertainty surrounding the Asia Cup 2025 deepened further today, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a clear warning: it will not attend the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting scheduled in Dhaka unless the venue is changed.
According to a senior ACC official quoted by Cricbuzz:
“BCCI has made its position clear. If the meeting happens in Dhaka, we will not attend it.”
This statement comes amid rising security and political concerns in Bangladesh, with several member boards — including India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Oman — reportedly uncomfortable with the Dhaka venue.
Asia Cup Fate Hangs in the Balance
The July 24 meeting was expected to finalize key decisions for Asia Cup 2025:
- India’s official participation
- Final tournament schedule
- Neutral or alternative venues (e.g., UAE or Sri Lanka)
Now, with major stakeholders threatening a boycott, the future of the tournament — including the high-profile India vs Pakistan clash — is in serious doubt.
PCB Left Isolated?
While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) insists on holding the meeting in Dhaka, opposition from multiple boards could force a venue change to Dubai or Colombo, or risk a complete collapse of the planning process.
With time running out and the tournament already under pressure from broadcasters and sponsors, all eyes are now on whether the ACC will relocate the meeting to avoid a major fallout.
