Asia Cup 2025

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has officially confirmed the dates and venue for the much-awaited Asia Cup 2025. According to ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the tournament will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28, 2025.

Naqvi made the announcement on Saturday via his official account on X (formerly Twitter), stating,

“I am delighted to confirm the dates for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in UAE. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 9th to 28th. We look forward to a spectacular display of cricket! Detailed schedule will be out soon.”

8 Teams, 19 Matches

The tournament will feature eight teams:
🇮🇳 India
🇵🇰 Pakistan
🇱🇰 Sri Lanka
🇧🇩 Bangladesh
🇦🇫 Afghanistan
🇭🇰 Hong Kong
🇦🇪 UAE
🇴🇲 Oman

A total of 19 matches will be played across the tournament, including the grand final, which is likely to be held on Sunday, September 28.

India vs Pakistan Clash Expected

As per early format expectations, India and Pakistan are likely to be placed in the same group. This opens the door for up to three encounters between the two arch-rivals — one in the group stage, another in the Super Four round, and potentially the final.

The tournament will be held in the T20 format, keeping in line with the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled for 2026.

Recent Speculations Addressed

There had been rumours earlier this year that India might skip the Asia Cup 2025, but the BCCI firmly denied those claims. A recent promotional poster featuring only India and Sri Lanka had also raised eyebrows, as Pakistan was notably absent. However, the official announcement confirms full participation.

Neutral Venue Strategy Continues

Following the understanding reached between BCCI and PCB, India and Pakistan only face off in neutral venues during ACC or ICC events. Thus, staging the tournament in the UAE satisfies both boards and ensures high-profile matches can go ahead without political interference.

Conclusion

With the confirmation of dates and venue, fans across Asia and beyond can now begin their countdown to Asia Cup 2025, which promises thrilling contests and especially the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan rivalry.

Stay tuned — the full match schedule is expected to be released in the next 48 hours.
