Despite a nail-biting finish in the second T20I against the West Indies, Pakistan’s stand-in captain Salman Ali Agha has expressed full confidence in the national squad’s preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
In a post-match press conference, Agha acknowledged the team’s shortcomings but remained optimistic. “We’re ready for the Asia Cup. These matches are helping us polish our strategies,” he said, emphasizing that the team is using the current series as a launchpad for the continental tournament.
The Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with matches spread across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. Pakistan is expected to announce its final squad by mid-August.
While Pakistan lost the second T20I by a narrow margin, Agha stressed the importance of learning from such matches. “The margin of error is small in T20 cricket. Our focus is on refining our death bowling and middle overs strategy.”
Agha’s statement is seen as a reassurance to fans after inconsistent performances in recent months. With key players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shadab Khan set to return, team management is confident of fielding a balanced squad.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is also expected to hold a preparatory camp in Lahore before the squad departs for the UAE in early September.
Cricket fans across South Asia are eagerly waiting for the high-octane clashes, especially the Pakistan vs India group-stage fixture scheduled for September 14 in Dubai.
