Pakistan Squad for Asia Cup 2025 to be Revealed Today

The Pakistan cricket team’s squad for the upcoming tri-nation T20I series and the Asia Cup 2025 is expected to be announced later today, reliable sources confirmed.

According to insiders, the selectors are preparing to unveil a 20-member squad, but there are likely to be some high-profile omissions. Former captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who have been out of Pakistan’s recent T20I plans, are once again not expected to feature. Pacer Naseem Shah and young fast bowler Abbas Afridi are also set to miss out, while Ahmed Daniyal has reportedly been ruled out due to injury concerns.

On the batting front, Fakhar Zaman will be named in the squad, but his participation in the tri-series will depend on his fitness. While selectors are keen to keep him in the group, his chances of playing in the tri-series remain slim if he fails to fully recover in time.

In the fast-bowling department, Pakistan is likely to rely on the experienced duo of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, with Salman Mirza and Faheem Ashraf also expected to be included. The management is believed to be focusing on building a strong pace unit ahead of the Asia Cup, which will be followed by the all-important ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The official announcement is likely to come after the selection committee’s meeting later today. Fans are eagerly waiting to see the final squad, especially after weeks of speculation regarding the possible returns of senior players and the inclusion of young talent.
