In a move aimed at easing travel and logistics, the Indian cricket team players will fly directly from their respective locations to Dubai for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, instead of assembling in Mumbai as per usual practice.
The 15-member squad, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will arrive in Dubai on September 4, with the first training session scheduled for the next day at the ICC Academy.
“All the players will arrive in Dubai by the evening of September 4. Factoring in logistical convenience, they have been allowed to fly in from their respective cities,” a senior BCCI official confirmed. “Asking some to first reach Mumbai and then travel again doesn’t make sense, given the short duration of the flight to Dubai,” he added.
The Asia Cup, to be played in T20I format, kicks off on September 9 across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. India, placed in Group A, will open their campaign against hosts UAE on September 10, before taking on arch-rivals Pakistan in a blockbuster clash on September 14. Their final group-stage game will be against Oman on September 19.
Group B features Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super Four and the Final on September 28 in Dubai.
With the T20 World Cup 2026 around the corner, this Asia Cup serves as a crucial testing ground for India’s preparations and team combinations.
