The Asia Cup 2025 is expected to take place from September 8 to 28, according to early reports. A tentative schedule also includes an exciting India vs Pakistan match on September 7, set to be one of the most anticipated fixtures of the tournament.
The tournament will be played in the T20 format, serving as a key preparation event ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
Eight teams are likely to participate: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong.
The competition is expected to follow the traditional structure—starting with a group stage, followed by the Super Four round, and concluding with a final between the top two teams.
UAE Likely to Host Asia Cup 2025
Although the tournament was originally awarded to India, reports suggest it will be shifted to the UAE due to ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan. The PCB refused to send its team to India, and both cricket boards have agreed not to tour each other’s countries for now.
This makes the UAE—with its experience of hosting several high-profile cricket events—a strong candidate. Matches are expected to be held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Discussions Underway in Dhaka
The venue and final schedule are still being discussed during the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Annual General Meeting in Dhaka on July 24–25. Officials from BCCI, PCB, and other member boards are part of the ongoing talks.
Although there were earlier doubts about India’s participation, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saika recently confirmed that the board has made no decision to skip the Asia Cup and called reports of a possible boycott “baseless.”
Fans across Asia will now be waiting for an official confirmation from the ACC regarding the final schedule and host nation.
