Bangladesh Announce Preliminary Squad

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 25-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 and a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands, set to take place later this month.

The announcement marks the return of wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan, who had been out of favor in recent national selections despite consistent performances in domestic cricket. While Nurul made a comeback to the squad, Mosaddek Hossain remained overlooked, failing to find a place even in the A team.

Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan Miraz retained his spot in the squad despite recent underwhelming performances in the T20 format during the tours of Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Key Highlights:

  • Nurul Hasan returns to the squad after consistent domestic performances.
  • Mosaddek Hossain misses out on both the main and A team selections.
  • Six players, including Nurul, will miss most of the training camp due to Australia’s T20 Series.
  • Skill and fitness camps set to begin in early August before squad finalization.

Players Set to Miss Early Camp

Six players from the preliminary squad — Nurul Hasan, Mahidul Islam, Saif Hassan, Hasan Mahmud, Naim Sheikh, and Tanzim Sakib — will be unavailable for the early training camp due to their commitment to the Australia T20 Series 2025, which begins in Darwin from August 9.

Following the T20 series, these players will also participate in a four-day match against South Australia, as part of Bangladesh A’s ongoing overseas development program.

Training and Preparation Schedule

According to BCB, the fitness camp for the available players will start on August 6 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur. Skill-based training will begin on August 15, followed by a relocation to Sylhet from August 20 for further preparation ahead of the tournaments.

T20I Series Against the Netherlands

The Dutch side is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on August 26, with the three-match T20I series concluding by September 4, just days before the Asia Cup 2025 begins.
