Afghanistan Squad for UAE T20I Tri-Series

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series in Sharjah, featuring Pakistan and hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE), from August 29 to September 7, 2025.

Star all-rounder Rashid Khan will lead a spin-heavy Afghan side, which sees just one change from their recently announced Asia Cup 2025 squad. Emerging pacer Abdullah Ahmadzai has replaced Naveen-ul-Haq, joining Fazalhaq Farooqi, Farid Malik, and Karim Janat in the pace attack.

Rashid will spearhead a strong spin unit alongside veterans Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, and youngster AM Ghazanfar. The batting line-up will be led by Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, with support from Darwish Rasooli, Mohammad Ishaq, and Sediqullah Atal.

The series is expected to serve as a dress rehearsal for the Asia Cup 2025, which kicks off on September 9. Afghanistan will face Pakistan in the tournament opener on August 29, before locking horns with UAE on September 1.
