Dubai – With the cricketing world bracing for the high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 showdown between arch-rivals Pakistan and India on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai Police have issued a strong advisory to fans, warning that any misconduct inside the venue will face immediate consequences.
In an official statement, authorities made it clear that violence, abusive language, or racist behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The Events Security Committee (ESC) of Dubai Police emphasized the need for discipline and urged spectators to display positive behaviour throughout the blockbuster clash.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the ESC, cautioned that offenders could face one to three months in jail, along with hefty fines ranging from AED 10,000 to AED 30,000 (equivalent to PKR 750,000 to 2.3 million).
“We urge fans to respect the laws and embrace sportsmanship. Any violation will result in strict legal action to ensure safety and maintain the spirit of the game,” Dubai Police said in their advisory.
Strict Measures for a Heated Rivalry
Given the history and intensity of an India-Pakistan encounter, officials are leaving no room for error in ensuring smooth conduct inside the stadium. The reminder comes as both teams enter the clash on the back of dominant opening wins.
- India bowled out hosts UAE for just 57 runs, chasing the target in a mere 4.3 overs.
- Pakistan stamped their authority with a 160-7 total before dismissing debutants Oman for 67 in 16.4 overs.
Historical Context
The upcoming match marks the 14th T20I meeting between Pakistan and India. India have the upper hand with 10 wins from 13 matches, while Pakistan are desperate to rewrite history. Their last encounter came at the 2024 T20 World Cup in New York, where Rohit Sharma’s men edged Babar Azam’s side in a tense, low-scoring thriller.
