Asia Cup 2025: Saim Ayub Stresses Focus on Title, Not India Rivalry

Saim Ayub Stresses Focus on Title

Ahead of Pakistan’s high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 clash against India at the Dubai International Stadium, opener Saim Ayub struck a calm note, downplaying the intensity of the India-Pakistan rivalry and insisting the team’s focus remains firmly on winning the tournament.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the 23-year-old left-hander underlined the importance of collective effort rather than individual battles.

“We all trust each other, and it’s a long-term process. The only thing in our hands is effort—no one can predict who performs on a given day. What matters is that every player contributes when it’s their turn,” Saim said.

Trust, Teamwork and Conditions

The young opener highlighted Pakistan’s adaptability with team combinations based on conditions.
“If the pitch looks dry, we go with three spinners. If it favors fast bowlers, the coaches make the call,” he explained.

Saim also brushed aside concerns that his bowling focus could hurt his batting rhythm. “These are three different aspects of the game. On match day, whoever executes best will make the difference. It’s all about giving our maximum for the team.”

Not Just India – The Bigger Goal

When asked about the pressure of facing India’s Jasprit Bumrah and the weight of the rivalry, Saim responded with maturity.
“Every bowler is a challenge. The real task is figuring out how to help the team win under pressure. Past memories don’t matter. Our goal is simple: to win the tournament, not just one match.”

The Karachi-born batter also stressed resilience when it comes to injuries and setbacks.
“Injuries are tough, but they’re part of the game. You recover, return, and give your best. That’s all we can do.”

Pakistan’s Mindset Ahead of India Clash

With Pakistan fresh off a convincing win in their opening game and India also arriving in Dubai on the back of a strong start, Saturday’s clash promises fireworks. But Saim’s words reflect the young squad’s attempt to stay grounded and keep eyes on the bigger prize – the Asia Cup trophy.
