Taskin Ahmed made an immediate impact, claiming his 100th T20I wicket by removing Sahibzada Farhan. Farhan looked promising with a cracking boundary through the covers, but perished soon after, slicing a fuller ball to backward point. The Asia Cup 2025 Super Four stage produced another thriller at the Dubai International Stadium, where Pakistan held their nerves to beat Bangladesh by 11 runs in a low-scoring contest. Defending 135/8, Pakistan’s pace duo Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf ran through the Bangladeshi batting, restricting them to 124/9 in 20 overs.
Shaheen Afridi was the star of the show with a fiery spell of 3/17, while Haris Rauf matched him with 3/33. Mohammad Nawaz’s all-round contribution (25 off 15 and 1/14) also proved decisive. For Bangladesh, Shamim Hossain (30 off 25) and Rishad Hossain’s late cameo (16* off 11) gave hope, but Pakistan’s bowlers sealed the virtual semi-final spot.
